Five Tips for Making Your Portrait Session Go Smoothly | Bergen County Photographer

A portrait session can be a source of stress for many parents. Making sure the kids will collaborate and dealing with camera shy family members are just two example of things that parents worry about when thinking about upgrading their family portraits. Here are five tips for making your portrait session go smoothly and stress free:

  1. Communicate. Let your photographer know of any questions or concerns you might have. form what to wear to being nervous your child will not sit still, just make sure your photographer knows. They will be able to help you through.

  2. Make sure your kids are fed before the session. nothing like a hungry child to make everybody stressed. Bring snack if necessary, just make sure they are no-messy such as cereal, dried fruit, cheese etc.

  3. Make sure everybody is rested and comfortable.

  4. Explain to your child what to expect so they are not caught by surprise and create some excitement.

  5. Lower your expectations. Remember your are dealing with kids. Let them be kids and enjoy the experience.
