The Importance of Calibrating your Monitor | Bergen County Photographer

When working with photographs not only it is necessary to make sure the colors look accurate on your screen, but you also need to make sure the colors look the same at someone else’s device and in print. The way to achieve this is by calibrating your monitor regularly.

What does calibrating a monitor mean? It means simply to adjust the colors of your monitor to fit with the general standards. In order to do that, you will need a tool called spectrometer.

A spectrometer is a piece of hardware that you place on the screen. This device captures data from your display and compares it with a database of standard colors. After this, it will instruct your computer to adjust the settings of your monitor as necessary.

Since the monitor color changes over time, it is important to calibrate your monitor monthly or if the lighting on your work environment changes.

Calibrating your monitor regularly is very important to guarantee the accuracy of colors on your photographs.
