I often get the “What is the best DSLR for Beginners?” question especially this time of the year when people are holiday shopping and looking for the best and latest deals. My answer is the Canon EOS Rebel T7 .

Canon came out with the original Rebel in 2003 and it was the first Digital SLR that cost under $1000. Fast forward eighteen years and we are looking at the Rebel T8i now which is a great camera for first time shooter with tons of advanced capabilities.

Canon released the T7 in 2018 and the T8i in 2020. Both cameras have a resolution of 24 megapixels and both come with an ASP-C sensor. The ASP-C sensor allows the Rebel to be more compact and light which is great if you have small hands or cannot carry heavy weight.

Both the T7 and T8 are very similar. The main difference is that the T8 has 4k video capability and a fully articulated screen. With the more recent release of the T8, the T7 is being sold at a much better price point than the T8 giving you more value for the money.
