Capturing Your Baby's First Year: Ages and Stages | Bergen County Photographer
While I do think that any time is good for photographing your baby, there are certain ages and stages that will be more meaningful in your baby’s life. Those are the so called milestones: newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, one year.
Newborn: Usually scheduled 5 to 7 days after birth and no later than 12 days after birth. This is the time to get the sleepy and curly pictures of the baby
3 months: The 3 month old baby usually can lift their head and knows their parents. Babies this age are also very alert and aware of their surroundings. This is the time to get images of new tricks the baby has learned and interaction with family members.
6 months: The 6 month old baby usually can roll over in both directions, begins to sit without support, bring things to their mouth and begins to pass things from one hand to another. This is the time to get images of the baby on the floor and interacting with their surroundings.
9 months: The 9 month old baby is starting to crawl and using both hands to explore toys. 9 month olds can also pull themselves into a standing position. This is also the age the baby starts using the pincer grasp. This is a fun age to get images of you baby holding both parents hands and trying to walk. This is also a great age for capturing images of baby having fun with mommy and daddy.
1 Year: The one year old baby is capable of standing holding onto furniture and is even cruising. The baby at this age is always busy and on the go. This is a good time to capture images of the baby cruising and playing by himself. This is also the time for First Birthday/Cake Smash sessions.
