Five Tips for Taking Amazing Photos This Spring | Bergen County Photographer
Spring is officially here and people tend to spend more time outside. So you gather your family and friends for a day out photographing in the sunlight, which can be tricky to photograph with. Here are some tips to have nice looking photographs while having fun.
Look for open shade. Under a tree, by the shadow of a tall building, just inside a doorway. The shade will soften the light and create beautiful catchlights on your subject’s eyes.
If at all possible avoid photographing at noon. this is the time of day the sun is very high, creating hard shadows and making people squint. If there is no way around it, turn people’s back to the sun.
Look out for distracting elements: street signs, power lines, other people, cluttered background
Make use of “Magic Hour,” one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset. This is the time of day the sun is low in the sky, producing a soft and flattering light.
Have fun! Enjoy your day out and let your creatives juices flow.
