Three Tips for Amazing Holiday Photos | Bergen County Photographer

Although it is hard to believe, it is December and the Holiday Season is officially here. At this time of year many of us are running around with cameras to parties and get togethers looking to record all the precious moments that happen this time of year. here are three tips that will help you make the best of your camera whether it is a phone or a DSLR.

  1. Get down to eye level with kids - I always say this when talking about photographing kids, you have to get down to their level. You want to show the children’s perspective. If you shoot from an adult eye level, your images will look distant and the children will look even smaller than they are.

  2. Focus on the moments - Avoid posing and try to shoot more candid images of people interacting, having fun. Sometimes posed photos can look cold and stiff, a documentary approach in this case can certainly help.

  3. Don’t forget details - Make sure to capture decorations, food, texture, patterns, etc. This will help your images stand out and give your viewers a feel of what was going on that moment.
