Trying to plan a family winter getaway with entertainment for everyone? whether you are trying to get away from the cold or enjoy everything the season has to offer, here are four winter getaway ideas within driving distance from the NY area.

  1. Great Wolf Lodge: At the Pocono Mountains, this is a great place to get away from a cold snap. The water Park is always 84° and you don’t even have to worry about sunscreen. With passes are included with your stay, you can hit the water park at 1 pm of the day you check in and they will let you know when your room is ready for you. There are other fun activities to do on the resort such as MaqiQuest, a live action treasure hunt all over the hotel, Scooops Kids Spa with services catered for the little ones, bowling, mini-golf and more.

  2. Philadelphia: The city of brotherly love offers lots for the whole family. Please Touch Museum is great for kids 1-7 with two floor of interactive exhibit zones plus a fully restored century old carousel. The Franklin Institute is a popular science museum with kid friendly exhibitions. For the history buffs head to the Independence National Historic Park, that is where you will find the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Congress Hall, The Benjamin Franklin Museum and the Bishop White House among others.

  3. Camelback Resort: Located in the Pocono Mountains, Camelback Resort is great for families. You can hit the slopes during the day and then relax splashing about Aquatopia while it is frigid outside. There is also a spa and fitness center on premises and an arcade.

  4. Boston: Boston is also a fun place to visit during the winter if you can handle the weather. The New England Aquarium is great for kids. They can touch a passing ray or shark at the Shark and Ray Touch Tank, cradle a sea star and much more. Ice Skating at Winter on the Wharf is also a lot of fun. Don’t forget to visit the Boston Common, the oldest city park in the US. The Frog Pond, home to a spray and splash pool in the summer becomes an outdoor skating rink in the winter.
